We’re so glad you’re here. We’re John and Brit, a husband and wife duo that have spent most of our marriage advocating for the benefits of clean skincare in an industry that seems to care more about the bottom line than their customers. Brit has worked most of her life in the beauty industry in various forms, privy to things like hands on service all the way to marketing and sales. It was the hidden secrets that companies use to market their products with clean-washed labels, green logos and fancy taglines.

With the last $25 to our name (that gift card), we bought the little bit we needed to make a single jar of what would become SMEAR. From day one, there was no skimping on ingredients because we knew that was going to set this apart. Within days, she sent us pictures of her before and afters and we knew we had something really special right in front of us. While most companies start with logistics, investors, loans and overhead, we started with a handwritten recipe and a prayer to help people in need.
